On Death forms part of TABOO, an ongoing Pacitti Company Think Tank strand exploring the edges of obedience and culture.
Artists Jo Bannon and Robert Pacitti each spoke about their own work in relation to death and dying.
Jo discussed the making of a recent work Dead Line – a live telephone encounter that creates a space to talk a little more openly about our fears, hopes and desires for living and dying.
Robert spoke about his cellular and somatic research into death and dying, and how these forged his live performance works Self-Elimination and Evidence Of Life After Death.
Jo Bannon is a UK based artist making live art and performance. She has presented work in the UK and Europe and is In Between Time associate artist and founder member of Residence. She also works as a dramaturg and as a producer of performance and live art.
Her work is concerned with human exchange and encounter and explores how our physical bodies experience the world around us and how this sensory experience can or cannot be conveyed.
She attempts to unpick the ways we look, hear and sense our immediate environment in order to rethink or make unfamiliar these intrinsic human behaviours. My performances often manifests as intimate encounters designed for single or small audiences alongside staged theatre work and installations.
